The publication of Totally Incorrect by Doug Casey is an event. It is the first book in 15 years by this giant of investment and libertarian commentary. No one has been as brave and bold in anticipating trends and thinking apart from the civic conventions as Casey. His ideas are so "dangerous" that he has been singled out by left-wing "watchdog" groups as a threat to society itself. Why, he doesn't even believe in the Constitution!

You can agree or disagree with what he says. Doesn't matter. What matters is that he shocks the brain out of its stupor and fires up new thoughts and new ways of looking at the world.

Totally Incorrect is better than a book of prose. It is a book of interviews, topic by topic. This way, the reader is able to catch him in the most candid way possible. He has a way of formulating things that is absolutely unforgettable. This entire book of 350 pages does exactly this on every important topic of our time.

In Doug's book you'll learn

· The best way to rob a bank … and you don't need a gun;
· Whether you should seek the quality over quantity of life;
· What you can do with your money that is better than getting a $100,000 MBA;
· What things are so critical that government should never be trusted with them;
· Whether it is evil or moral to avoid taxes;
· Why pirates and smugglers are humanity's benefactors;
· Why war is great for governments but terrible for the rest of us;
· Why the jails are filling up with good guys and the bad guys are running the country;
· Why we were better off when fist fights would break out in Congress;
· Why you should consider getting out of the country ASAP;
· The best way to fight official corruption in government (hint no officials, no corruption);
· Why America has embraced the "deadly combination" of "Nordic efficiency and American neopuritanism."

The book allows you to experience such thoughts in the context of a very civil conversation, so you can see how his mind works. It is brilliant, and it inspires brilliance. Someone like Casey comes along very rarely. He's been called the only viable contender for H.L. Mencken's legacy. Laissez Faire is extremely honored that he chose us as his publisher.

This is my first exposure to the writings and thoughts of Doug Casey. The guy can make me angry at times but when I try to follow his train of thought I see truth in what he says. I wouldn't say he is right all the time or that he has the whole truth, but I am better off for having heard his opinion and arguments.

Totally Incorrect Conversations with Doug Casey LFB edition by Louis James Doug Casey Terry Coxon Politics Social Sciences eBooks Reviews

You need to get different input and discern the truth. This book, author, helps you gain additional insights and hopefully the knowledge will help you figure out what to do before the bottom falls out of the economy, leaving you holding the bag once again.
This was an interesting read. A book to make you think.
Doug is always a hoot. Louis does a great job as agent provocateur.
Most everybody these days are guarded and diplomatic in their observations. Not so, Doug Casey. He doesn't hesitate to tell it like it is and is very adept at explaining ideas in precise language. While I cannot say that I agree with everything he said, nevertheless, his conversations have made me think long and hard about so many things we think we know but really don't (paraphrasing). I thoroughly enjoyed Conversations with Doug Casey.
This book is a compilation of several relatively short discussion on Doug Casey's views as reviewed by Louis James. Casey's views are not "mainstream", but probably should be because many current political "truths" are merely dressed up falsehoods. Casey appears to see through most of the political facade with opinions which seem very valid. Although I question his suggestion to make government corruption one's friend, in all probability such is a practical approach in many present day nations.

The discussions range from general comments on collectivism and global warming and Homeland Security to Cuba (and Fidel Castro), personal weapons and cigars, etc. The book provides a good grasp of sensible observation across a broad spectrum of current society.

Casey's comment to the effect that throwing early Christians to the lions was a logical response by most Romans somewhat underlines Casey's unconventional insights. Again, his insights are different from what most people think, so can assist in prying open a lot of politically confused minds. I am pleased to have benefited from being exposed to thinking which is beyond run-of-the-mill ideas. - - -And that's good!
He speaks common sense about how our freedoms are slowly fading away and the vast majority of people are blind to this fact.
Doug Casey is the kind of guy you'd want on your side in a debate, but only if you completely agree with his opinions. It's his way or the highway, it seems. His book is thought provoking. I mostly agree with his conservative, libertarian views. But his opinions about religion are disturbing. He implies that religion is for weak-minded people and that there is nothing beyond this mortal life. To me, this shallow view is discouraging. I wonder if he's really as content with himself, his marriage, his travel, and his possessions as he leads his readers and listeners to believe. Seems narcissistic to me. His live-this-life-to-the-fullest,-because-there-is-nothing-more mantra is loud and clear in this book, but offers no hope.

I've met and worked with intelligent, strong-willed, and highly-opinionated people like him before. They're okay to be around until you disagree with them or until you tire of hearing about them, their lives, or their things. But mostly, I tend to avoid them. His book reminded me of these relationships. I'll read it once, but probably won't pick up the book again.
This is my first exposure to the writings and thoughts of Doug Casey. The guy can make me angry at times but when I try to follow his train of thought I see truth in what he says. I wouldn't say he is right all the time or that he has the whole truth, but I am better off for having heard his opinion and arguments.
